The We-Wu for May 4-8, 2026
If last week’s theme was meetings, (was it? I don’t remember) then this week’s theme was organization. I spent a loooot of time creating folders, moving documents, creating documents, and moving folders.
Also deleting emails. I deleted a lot of emails. And maybe answered a few that had been sitting there for a while.
I try to set aside time to do this every so often because it helps me keep track of things, but I usually just end up doing it when I can’t find anything or I see something that needs to change or I get really annoyed by having to click fifteen things to get where I want to be.
Or all of the above.
Actually, one of the reasons for the folder creation is security. We’ve had so many people coming through and working on things that the potential for accidental deletion or sharing is high. Plus, since we do so much in Google Drive, we are trying to keep from cluttering up other people’s storage.
It’s a process.
Anyway, this week hasn’t just been about organization. I have been doing plenty of other things. And you know the meetings didn’t just stop. I start every week with two meetings off the top, and I don’t see that going away anytime soon.
After my meetings, I had to redo a project I worked on last week. My Train the Trainers transfiles were bad. Fortunately, I was able to fix the issues by starting over. Yay!
That actually spurred some of the reorg, because I had to create some new folders for Edition 2. (Writing this made me think of something else I had to do, so here I am, 30 minutes later.)
My brain is not in this. I keep getting distracted. But we’re powering through!
I did have two meetings this week that were more training meetings than anything else. We documented how to combine PDFs for publishing, and we started learning how to create transfiles for new content. I think our catchphrase is complex but not complicated, but I don’t know if I can keep saying that. The more I learn, the more I have to rewire my brain. If it was just one or two things, then I would say it wasn’t complicated. But I now understand why there are whole publishing companies with different departments. I feel like I’m at least four departments by myself.
I have a team. This will be fine. I have a team. This will be fine. (New catchphrase?)
As always, I continue my work on the weekly guide. Now that we’re starting to learn how to create transfiles for it, I’m going to have to actually set aside real time to get the second one done.
I do have one image from the week that should tell you everything you need to know about how distracted I get.
Yes, I made that in Canva. Why? Because when you first open the door, this is what you see:
And it was driving me nuts even though I don’t live in this building. (It got a little wrinkled because I carried it over in the rain. Don’t worry. I’m sure it will bother me sufficiently that I’ll change it at some point. Maybe I’ll laminate it.)
I think that wraps up the week. There probably won’t be a post next week because I’m taking a couple of days off. I have a lot of small stuff to take care of this weekend, so maybe we’ll run into each other.
Bye!
