Adventures Big and Small: The 3We-Wu for April 21 - May 9, 2025

No, the title is not a typo. This is technically a wrap-up post for three-ish weeks. There was no way I was going to get a post done the week of the conference, I had dogs last weekend, and so we have arrived at today.

Actually, there’s a double meaning to the title that I hadn’t originally intended. It will also be three weeks-ish before I post again. Why? Because I’m going on a road trip with my family.

Think of this post as a lovely oasis in the desert of Jessica.

When we left off last time, I was preparing to oversee/run tech for the Church Multiplication Conference here at OMS HQ. It’s usually one of my busiest weeks, and this year was no exception.

We started on Tuesday, since Easter had just taken place, and that fact threw me off on my days for the rest of the week. It didn’t matter too much since I was too busy running around, and the schedule was fairly similar each day, so as long as I was by the computer, I could be pretty sure that I was where I was supposed to be.

I’m not going to say it was a perfect week as far as tech goes. We had a few hiccups. But nothing that totally threw us off or caused huge problems for the conference.

As far as the actual content of the conference, I thought it was really good. The theme was unreached people groups and places. I think there are some really cool things ahead, and I’m glad that Train & Multiply gets to be part of it.

We did get a chance to have some fun during the week, and I’m proud to say that my record of being horrible at mini golf still holds. But I still had fun, and the important thing is the friends you trash talk along the way.

So the conference went well, and I did my best to get some sleep that weekend. I can’t say I was super successful because I had to put together my presentation for the chapel presentation on the First Council of Nicaea. I ended up with 47 slides, partly because of the program we use in chapel. I did enjoy the process, not so much the presentation, but I’ll let you decide how it went. (That’s a link to the video. I haven’t watched it. I probably won’t ever watch it. I was there live. Don’t judge me for the sweat.)

I did manage to get some other work done for my regular job. The first issue of OMS Outreach this year was on Village Church Planting in Africa. It was a real banger, so much so that our partners in Africa wanted to translate it into French and print it for their people there. So they did. We got the translation during the conference week, so I couldn’t do anything with it until last week.

I got the InDesign files from Foster and basically just copy/pasted the paragraphs into place. Very similar to T&M, except the paragraphs weren’t tagged and there was less ability to move things around. I was very much limited to what was already designed. I think I did all right with it in spite of how long the French language actually is. I don’t think people realize that. Not that they would need to. It’s just bit me a couple of times recently.

Anyway. I made some photos smaller and had to change the font size. I hope it’s still legible. I’m sure it’s fine.

I actually didn’t finish the magazine until this week. Which is fine. I had to take a short time out to put together a new project progress update. Which I will share with you because I put a lot of work into it.

Many thanks to Trista for the original design.

For the rest of my time, I’ve been in meetings and trying to get things wrapped up before my big trip. I’m looking forward to this, though it will definitely be another one of those vacations after which I may need another vacation. If you’d like to follow along on my adventures, I will try to do some posts on Instagram or Facebook. I’m sure I will do a long blog post with all of the details you wanted and many more you didn’t, but that will likely take me a while.

I hope you don’t miss me too much. I also hope you don’t forget about me. I will be thinking of you fondly. Probably. At least once.

Until then, I will leave you with a picture that encapsulates a fun little adventure I took today. Think of it as a reminder that sometimes the small stuff turns into big stuff quite quickly.

Bye!!!
