The Pre-Storm Storm: The We-Wu for April 14-18, 2025

Technically, even though I’m posting this on Friday, this post only reflects four days. Four very long days, yes, but four days nonetheless as I had today off for Good Friday.

The Chosen has been covering Holy Week in season five. The episodes have felt very heavy, mostly because we know what is coming. I’m not sure I can watch season six in the theater next year. It reminds me of when The Passion of the Christ came out all those years ago. My school actually took us on a field trip to watch that in the theater because I went to a Baptist high school. I was a cool teenager that didn’t let anything affect me, so I mostly watched that film through an intellectual lens.

But I have watched these characters for years. There’s this weird separation between the show characters and the Bible people. The Bible people went through this 2000 years ago, and I’ve read Scripture and discussed the events and debated the implications. The characters, though, are going through this in real time. I’m living this with them. I had another chance to be an extra in season six, and I didn’t even click on the email. I don’t really want to be part of a crucifixion. THE crucifixion.

So, yeah. That’s what’s on my mind today.

This week was the storm before the storm. It was definitely not calm. You know how sometimes it gets really windy as a front comes in? And then there’s the rain, hail, and potential tornadoes. This week was the wind. Lots of training my volunteer tech team, testing the equipment, uploading and downloading files to and from various programs, and random side quests.

Monday’s side quest was part three of The Chosen, Tuesday’s was a doctor’s appointment (I’m fine) and a T&M meeting, Wednesday’s was prayer chapel, Thursday … okay, I don’t think there was a side quest on Thursday. Every other moment was working on stuff for the conference.

Just how tall are the presenters?

So let’s talk about next week.

The conference starts on Tuesday, and I have to keep reminding myself of that because I keep thinking it starts Monday and then saying the wrong day. So we kick off Tuesday at 9 after people check in. There’s a welcome session, which is good because it gives me a chance to kick the tires. Main sessions are both in person and online, so I’m running audio and visuals while my excellent volunteers monitor Zoom and back me up. We’ll have workshops and also reports from CMFs. I don’t have to do anything for the reports except listen and take notes for future prayer letters. I get all the best stories from this week.

What you can do is pray that everything works, everyone stays healthy, and that people get value out of the presentations. Pray for good sleep, alarm clocks that work, and strong Wi-Fi connections. Just prayer in general would be appreciated.

I’m going to do my best to rest this weekend. I’m going to enjoy Easter and de-people as much as possible before I have to be around literally everyone.

Maybe pray I can keep being nice to people.

Okay, that’ll do it. I give you permission to ignore some small stuff this weekend.

Bye!
