The Calm Before the Storm: The We-Wu for June 1-19, 2026
Am I writing this while watching the USA dominate Australia?
Yes.
Do I care about soccer outside of the World Cup?
Minimally.
I do participate in a fantasy league for the English Premier League. I’m a big Haaland fan, and I do have a soft spot for Norway because of him (and the awesome Viking team photo). But have to say, I much prefer soccer when it’s played on ice and people are getting their teeth knocked out.
Sooo, it has been a hot minute, eh? There is so much going on, especially at this time of year. Of course, next week is going to be even more nuts, but we’ll get back to that later.
You will be happy to know that I finally finished the weekly guide. That thing was hanging over my head like the Sword of Damocles. I just kept getting interrupted when I worked on it! But I was able to block out some time, buckle down, and knock it out.
My meeting count is holding steady. The over/under is around seven for any given week, which could honestly be worse. I’m fortunate that the majority of my meetings are either productive or informative. The downside is that they also usually lead to more work for me and my team. (Incidentally, don’t trust informal meetings. Make them put things on record!)
We’re actually in something of a lull right now. By we, of course, I mean my team, because my list still runneth over. But we are either waiting for proof documents or in between terms right now, so it’s a good time for them to work on process documents. I know it’s their favorite thing to do because this is a project that will likely never be put to bed.
I had some deputation meetings in the last couple of weeks, which was lovely. I really need to do more of that to get my financial support back up, but that does take time, and time is at a premium right now. You can actually read more about that in my prayer letter, which is the latest thing I’ve been working on and should be coming out soon.
So, next week. Next week is missionary council week. That’s when field and regional leaders come talk about the year gone past and the year to come. It’s also Board Week. Both the international and USA boards will be here (which also means that ALL of the projects have been happening in the last three weeks to spruce things up). Finally, it is also the week for the 125th celebration!
Basically, it’s all hands on deck. I volunteered a morning to watching the missionary kiddos, and I also have particular duties for the 125th. I will tell you all about those after the fact, but I’m really stoked about it. I’m hoping the celebration goes well. It’s going to be a crazy time! I’m sure I’ll need some introvert time after next week.
I may have stayed at the office a bit later than I’d have liked tonight. I kept thinking of things I needed to do, and I hate leaving things in the middle. But hey, we made it! I hope you have a very pleasant weekend.
Bye!
