The We-Wu for January 26 - February 6, 2026
My brain is the mush. Like oatmeal in jello. Or jello in oatmeal. I don’t know how those two viscosities would mesh. Or not mesh. And now I’m picturing it, and it’s gross.
Yes, I missed a week of the blog. But we’re making up for it! Last week was more than a bit crazy on its own. Fern did indeed live up to what she promised, at least for central Indiana. We got more than a foot of snow, and it has been too cold ever since for any of it to melt. It’s a lie that Indiana has no mountains, because we get mountains of snow every few years. They just happen to be in parking lots and on street corners.
So, the office was closed last Monday. I know, my commute isn’t exactly terrible, but even living across the street, I had no desire to cross said street to come to the office. I did what I could from home and then took the opportunity to get a little extra rest.
Now, one big thing (or two things, depending on how you count) that has happened is that our team grew! So you know we already have Veronica, and Eliana, and Naomi, and my mom (Donna), and Lynae working on production and Erin working on some project management. Now, we also have Heidi and Meg helping with production!
I am excited to have more help, because we have a ton of projects we’re working on. I’m also wishing I had a Time Turner because there are not enough hours in the day to train two people and get my own work done. I’m relying on my team to do some of the training, and they have been fabulous, but there is still so much about the VCP process that I don’t know. That might explain a little bit of why my brain feels squishy. I’m trying to cram so much information in and switching between programs and skills and then trying to remember the basics so I can onboard our newbies.
Other projects: the French Implementation Manual, Hausa Group 1 proof files, revisiting the Kiluba Implementation Manual, and creating a presentation for speaking at a church this last weekend. That’s also why I didn’t get a blog out last week because I left Friday to travel North. I wanted to give myself plenty of time in case the weather did not want to cooperate. As a plus, I got to see some of my family, so the weekend was a win-win.
There was a brief moment of terror on Tuesday when I was told that pipes were leaking in my apartment. Fortunately, it wasn’t too terrible, and they are already working in the apartment below mine. I got some new bathroom fixtures out of it, and now I get to sort through all the stuff in the closet I had to clean out. Yay me.
Anyway, did I have things to finish this week? Yes. Did I finish them? No. Did I stop working on those things so I could write this blog post instead? Definitely yes. Oh, well. You guys are my number one. (I fully expect I’ll be in tomorrow to keep working on things.)
So, I think that will do it. I’m going to go let my brain rest for at least a few hours. I also need to recharge my social battery so that I can hang out with some friends and watch some big sportsball thing on Sunday.
Take care of some small stuff, homies.
Bye!
