I’m getting a late start on this today, friends. I had a really good day yesterday, and today, while not bad, has been a bit disjointed.

This whole week, though, has been crazy busy.

It started Monday. (I know, what a concept, the week starts on Monday.) We have been working our way through Psalms for Monday morning devos, and we’re at Psalm 121 now. That’s always been a favorite. Then I had a quick zoom with one of my new trainees and fixed something she was confused about. Then I met with our project manager to get up to speed on project deadlines I didn’t know about. That’s always fun. Then I met with the other new trainee and did a fairly good job at training her on something I barely understand myself. Then I had to fix a file in Kiluba, which didn’t actually take too long, which was good, because then I met with another of my employees to fix some tech issues. I had just enough time left in the workday to get some work done on Hausa files. They are taking way too long to finish, partly because I keep having to leave them to work on other things, and then I go back to them and have to remember where I was.

Tuesday was somewhat less frenetic. I met with yet another employee (my mom) on zoom to talk through some stuff I only barely understood. Then I had a two-hour workshop about trauma, so that was fun. It’s good information, but I’m not going to deny that it’s a little awkward. I like to keep my trauma on the inside. But I had some solid time to continue working on Hausa in the afternoon.

Wednesday was a bit of a wash. We had chapel, which was good, though the speaker is leaving, so I had to say goodbye to Obi-Wan Jaynobi. Then I sat in on a presentation from a non-profit called Steer, Inc. It’s actually a cool company, and you will definitely be hearing more about it in the future. They help missionaries raise support, but they do it in a completely unique way. I’m excited to explore it further. In the afternoon, though, I had a dentist appointment to repair two fillings and fill a new cavity. What joy, what bliss! My jaw was quite sore after that, so I took the rest of the afternoon off to get some rest.

Thursday was a weirdly good day. I had enough time to clear up some emails and messages before an incredibly productive meeting with Mike and Brian. We made some excellent progress on training me in VCP stuff and moving more of the work to my plate. We spent about three hours on it, and I was so shocked that a meeting was actually productive. Granted, Mike did leave about an hour in, so maybe that had something to do with it. (Just kidding! That part was productive, too, and we didn’t need him for the training stuff.) Then I needed to run some errands, and I actually saved money on a couple things I needed. That never happens. I continued with Hausa when I got back, and then I spent some time in the evening working on my taxes. I had kept telling myself to wait until the end of January so that I knew I had all of my documents, and then I realized this week that January ended a week ago.

On Friday morning, I took a quick glance at my taxes with fresh eyes and e-filed them. It will be nice to have that out of the way, but it will be annoying to keep getting tax prep ads with increasing frequency and desperation. We had our usual development meeting, which I attended on my phone while I waited for my computer to update. I don’t usually have to do much for that meeting other than keep up with what’s going on with the app and occasionally weigh in with an opinion. This morning, I did actually have to do something, but it didn’t take too much time. I had a quick meeting with one of the new trainees to load Macros onto her computer. That was part of the training I was missing on Monday, so it was nice to get that done. Then we had our big VCP team meeting, and it was nice to have everyone on the screen at the same time. That meeting was also productive, and the team is doing really well. I’m quite proud of them. Then I had a couple more errands, and these did not go nearly as quickly as those on Thursday. I was picking up some groceries from Target, and when I tried to use the app, I just got the spinny wheel of death. I had to get out of my car! And then I picked up lunch at Wendy’s, but they were out of Frostys and french fries. Then, when I was trying to put my groceries away, all of the stuff in my freezer tumbled out. It did actually allow me to play some Tetris to get everything back in. I finally got back to the office and put some of my new knowledge to good use and prepped some new work for my team. And, of course, continuing Hausa. I’m so close!

Now, of course, I’m here finishing up the blog. I have a fun weekend ahead, and it has nothing to do with Valentine’s Day. We’ll see if I get any other work done. There’s definitely some small stuff I can take care of. I hope you have a lovely weekend and feel all the love you deserve.

Bye!
