Catching up: The We-Wu for February 23 - March 13, 2026

Buckle in, nerds. We have a lot of ground to cover.

Our last communique was in February, so I’ll be consulting my notes in order to refresh my recollection. (Can you tell I’ve been watching trials on my second monitor? Well, one trial. Points if you can guess which one.)

I spent a couple of frantic days building the Implementation Guide for both French and English. It’s not fully done, yet, because I took some short cuts in order to get it out the door. But it’s on my list. I also had to come in on a Saturday to put in the French corrections so that it would be ready in time for training, so don’t ever doubt my dedication.

If you’re wondering what the difference is between the Implementation Guide and the Implementation Manual, you are not alone. The Implementation Manual is used in Phase 1 of Village Church Planting. The Implementation Guide is used in Phase 2 of Village Church Planting. See? Two totally different things (They are basically just talking about how each phase works - or, you know, how it’s implemented.)

My next big project was publishing the first group of Hausa booklets, which then led to creating and publishing the first volume for VCP. We had to change how we group our booklets for translation because VCP only uses certain ones and in a particular order. BUT, not all booklets in the first group are used in the volume. The volume is just that - a group of booklets all bound together for use as a textbook of sorts.

The next big thing was a meeting of most of our stakeholders for the work in Africa (which includes, but is not excluded to VCP). I, with the help of Erin our project manager, put together some charts and things to present for the meeting that would help the stakeholders (ugh, I sound so corporate) understand the publishing process. It went fine.

This is just one of the charts we use. Aren’t the colors super fun?

In between the crazy storms we’ve been having, I have been working on my prayer letter (which will, in fact, be later than I’d like) and also editing the next weekly guide for Phase 2. The weekly guides provide readings and questions about those readings for church planters who have been through Phase 1.

What I have not been doing is keeping up with my email. I used to at least look at the new emails every day, but I’m so far behind on these now. I get CCd on so many things now, and most of it is important to know, but I just can’t read everything and also keep up with my actual work. So if you’ve emailed me and haven’t heard anything back, that’s probably why. I apologize.

Okay, I think that brings us up to this week. I’m still working on the weekly guide because I have had some smaller projects take up the in-between times, and I also try to make myself available for troubleshooting issues that the publishing team bring up.

There will be another post, soon. That one is going to be a bit more political in nature, so feel free to skip it if you’d like. But you might find it interesting to watch me wrestle with the intersection of faith and country. You know, some of those small things that are also big things.

Bye!
